What is the PTO?

Why does the PTO fundraise?

Who is a member?

We are a non-profit group dedicated to enriching children's experiences and building community at Sun Valley. Our fundraising -- about $250,000 a year -- enables SV to offer art, music, P.E., a poet-in-residence, intervention specialists and more.

We sponsor field trips, parent education nights, class supplies, book fairs, author visits, career assemblies, garden club and family events that build community. We raise funds for capital projects including the new sunshade, lunch tables and playground equipment.

It costs about $650 per student to provide enrichment programs each year. The Fall Annual Fund (starting in September) is our largest annual fundraiser. Without it, we'd lose programs that make SV shine. We also raise money with:

Spring auction

Grocery loyalty card programs

Restaurant nights

Logo merchandise sales

YOU, just by having a child at Sun Valley School!

How does the PTO build community?

The more involved we are, the better our kids do! So we coordinate volunteers, grade-level socials, restaurant nights, parent education events, book fairs, auction parties and more. We share information through newsletters, our website and Facebook page. And we invite everyone to our bi-weekly board meetings at 8:30 a.m. in the Teacher's Lounge, or our monthly evening general meetings at 6:00 p.m. in the MPR (with childcare!)
